While founding OXplus, Henri and Richard already wanted the OXplus Team to share values similar to the Ox. Years later, as 2021 marks the Year of the Ox, these shared values are leading in the day to day operations of OXplus and when hiring new members for the team.
According to Chinese Astrology Oxen are defined as the hard workers in the background, intelligent and reliable, but never demanding praise. Oxen are patient, responsible, orderly and determined, they have faith in others and are known as the most reliable friends. This is exactly what we at OXplus want to be for our team and clients and where we associate with.
Because of our connection to the Ox, 2021 is a very special year for OXplus, as 2021 marks the Year of the Ox in Chinese Astrology. But where does the Year of the Ox come from?

The Origins of the Year of the Ox
Every Chinese Lunar New Year is always represent by one of the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac, chosen by the Jade Emperor of China centuries ago. According to legend, the Jade Emperor held a great race in which the first 12 animals to reach the palace would be the winners and would each get a year named after them in their honor.
During the race, the Ox was winning, until he reached a rushing river. The Rat was right behind him and couldn’t swim very well, so the kind Ox let the Rat ride on his back. As soon as they got to the other side, the Rat jumped off and scurried to the finish line to win the race first. That’s why the first year in the Chinese Zodiac Calendar is the Year of the Rat. The Year of the Ox, therefore, being the second year in the Chinese Zodiac Calendar. 10 other animals reached the palace to create the 12-year cycle of the Chinese Zodiac.
It’s said the animal your birth year is named after can shape your personality and destiny. You can be honest like a Dragon or smart like a Monkey. When your animal takes its turn in the Zodiac Cycle legend has it that your year will be full of surprises! Given that 2021 is the Year of the Ox, we are preparing for a wonderful year that we want to celebrate with you!
